Can I put my cast iron skillet in the oven?
Yes you can put your cast iron in the oven, as long as it is only made from cast iron and has no other plastic parts or handles. Typical cast iron has a melting point of over 2000 degrees Fahrenheit, and will not start to warp at any temperatures that a home oven can produce. Some cast iron pans have a protective enamel coating that could possibly be damaged by excessive oven heat, but all in all it's perfectly safe to use your cast iron skillet in the oven, under any temperature you desire.
